How to Stay the Course

I was listening to a podcast the other day, and the message really stuck with me, so I thought it’d help you to hear it too:

You don’t get bonus points for suffering.

Now, let me explain…

Are you doing your best?

Staying within your budget 80% of the time?

Hustling your ass off to save for your emergency fund?

Staying away from Target??

It’s so easy to only see the things we’re not doing “good enough” in.

But today, I want to praise you for all the stuff you’re doing right, even if it’s not always perfect.

You don’t get extra points for beating yourself up, for obsessing over what’s not right, for torturing yourself over how great someone else is doing while you’re feeling stuck.

You’re doing the work.

You’re standing back up when you fall.

Never forget that personal finance is a marathon, not a sprint.

It doesn’t matter how slow you go, as long as you keep going.

No matter where you are on this journey, have pride in all the work you’ve already done.

You’re doing a great job.
